Player of the Match: Gwen W – Came on as a sub and scored four goals and is 3rd top scorer in the division – not bad for a central midfielder!

Player of note: Chloe A – Only days past her 16th birthday, Chloe played her first game of Ladies football. Strong and consistent – rarely a foot or a pass out of place.

GOALS: Gwen 4, Lauren 3, Christie 3, CHARLOTTE 1 (NOT A TYPO), Emily 1

Match Report

At -1 degrees and thick fog, the conditions weren’t ideal for football today but as usual Aspley held up well to the conditions.

WW Ladies started off well but lacked a little patience and composure and despite having the better possession and chances, we went 1 – 0 down to Dunstable’s first shot on goal. It was just what was needed though and Woburn responded quickly with two goals in 2 minutes.

Lauren terrorised their throughout the game, both creating and scoring goals.

Two more goals followed in the next five minutes which ensured WW went in to the changing rooms in control of the game, Christie using her pace to get onto a through ball and clinically slotting in to the bottom corner from just inside the box.

Half Time: WW Ladies 4 – AFC Dunstable Blues 1

The second half saw some outstanding football played by WW Ladies with Jay and Gwen pulling all the strings in midfield. Charlotte started the scoring off in the second half with a 30 yard screamer (well that’s what it’ll be by Wednesday training!). Christie and Lauren both completed their hat-tricks in the second half only to be surpassed by the performance of Gwen – with four exquisite goals.
