After the tragic news in the week, today was all about celebrating Zach’s life and his impact at our club..

First half got underway with the Hurricanes in a determined mood, Emanuel and Jake bossing the midfield and playing for the first time together, looking a good pairing.  A corner delivered from the right, dropped centre of goal Kian rising highest to fire his header past the ‘keeper 1-0. The home side were in full flow, dominant within the game, Louie striking the post. They soon added a second, Louie the the provider for a clever lobbed finish by Joseph 2-0. Mursley offered very little attacking threat but did force a corner, that bounced dangerously across the six yard box.

The home side pushed and poured forward almost at will, with Mursley camped in their half, however clear cut chances were at a premium, Jake very unlucky to see his long range short clip the top of the bar.

HT 2-0

We had planned a formation change for the second half, we felt that we needed more movement ahead of the ball to stretch the Mursley defence, we were a little static in the first half, which allowed Mursley to get compact.

Second half got underway and it was the same as the first half start, Hurricanes in complete control, but with an extra body pushed on Mursley were being pulled all over the place, Louie adding four goals in a devastating attacking spell 6-0. Hayden for the first time in the game called in to action pulled off a smart save. Oscar and then Donny and a seventh and eighth 8-0. A great through ball from Alex, sent Joseph clear racing towards goal, he was upended in the box, the Referee pointed to the spot. Hayden having been desperate to take a penalty for the last season and half, every game his line is “Gary, if were say 4-0 up and we get a penalty can I take it?” I guess persistence pays off.

Hopefully that will see the end of that particular match day annoyance, Hayden slotting it straight down the middle, 9-0. Hurricanes kept pushing forward, Joseph adding his second, a reward for his attacking play, and Emanuel rounding off a promising debut with a crisp strike with almost the lack kick of the game.

FT 11-0

Scorers: Louie (4), Joseph (2), Kian, Donny, Oscar, Hayden (P), Emanuel.

P.O.T.M: Jake – an effervescent midfield performance.
