All credit to EB Lions, who in spite of several injuries and major traffic chaos, fielded a side which got to Aspley Guise for kick off a few minutes late.

Woburn showed their intent from the off as Georgie scored after 32 seconds and when Carrie’s 25 yard effort crossed the line, only 1 minute 54 seconds had elapsed. Woburn continued the pressure and after 9 minutes, a 20 yard run from Molly, was finished with a great shot and a comfortable 3-0 lead.

Pat had 3 players back today – Zoe, Alice and Jemma. 17 fit players for the business end of the season is just what’s needed. The defence looked as solid as ever. Leanne in goal today, with Grace, Millie, Michaela and Alice and the challenge of not conceding. The midfield 4 of Emily, Carrie, Rosie and Lauren working well together. 18 minutes up and Molly crashed a shot off the bar only for Georgie to follow up to make it 4-0. Chloe R came on and scored with her first touch and then again in the last 15 minutes of the half. A healthy 6-0 lead at half time.

Woburn started the second half well, with a free kick from Carrie driven into the wall and Millie’s follow up shot well saved. EB’s pressure forced a save from Leanne, but they couldn’t take advantage of an open goal, as Zoe just doing enough to force the shot wide. The EB keeper pulled off a couple of great saves before our own keeper, had one more save to make. However, just as it looked like EB may come back into the game, Molly scored 2 more long range goals to make it 8-0 and her hat-trick. Certainly the recent weeks of frustration at not having a game, evaporated today.

Well done to all our girls.

Pat and Steve
