The Lionesses welcomed Potters Bar United for the first time ever! They arrived very early at the Guise looking very strong but without any subs. Poppies were added to the Woburn shirts just before the game and photos taken of the girls, ready for rememberance weekend. The game had everything pace, power, passion and after only 2 mins Casey playing central upfront makes it 1-0. Woburn starting with a different look at the back, but with a very strong bench. Then the visitors started to dominate with hard work all over the pitch, but the Lionesses fresh legs of Georgie, Alice & Molly will always make a difference! The Lionesses held strong, dug in and sometimes it was not pretty but with lots of determination, great runs and passes from back to front just needed the final finishing touch not easy against this good team.On 42 mins a freak own goal kicked onto the visitors keeper gives the Blues a early Xmas present! Potters very unlucky to go in at halftime 2 down. Then second half end to end football Molly hits the bar , Carrie skims the post, we started to find our passing game .

On 65 mins one of many corners from Molly ends up on Alice’s head for a great attacking header at the back post. 3-0. Amy kept testing the defenders trying to create space for her left peg to find the net , but Amy did find Casey from a header and Casey finished it with a great shot showing great class on 72 mins. 4-0. They did finally break through our fantastic defence on 80 mins with there big strong centre forward (who had been kept quiet all game by Rachel & Jade) shoulders Jade & Rachel to the ground and bangs it home with venum. Leaving Jade with a very heavy fall & a fracture to the collar bone! Our thoughts are with her for a speedy recovery. This was a tough game which needed all the Lionesses to be contentrating for 90 mins to get the result we wanted. All 14 players needed to win this one.

Some great performances all over the pitch today Rachel, Jade, Casey, Madison to name but a few! Final score 4-1

POM Rachel.
