League game

This weekends fixture was away to Stotfold. It wasn’t the best start to the day as a number of the Lionesses got lost on the way due to road diversions and we had to start the game minus the manager!
Despite this, Woburn started strongly and were attacking from the start. It wasn’t long before a cross from Elizabeth was slotted into the back of the net by Neve.
Shortly after, the lionesses second goal was scored by ELizabeth. On a roll the girls were playing well together and a lovely pass from Neve gave Elizabeth the opportunity to score her second goal making it 3-0.
Our girls grew in confidence and there were some great chances from Sacha, Maisie, Georgia, Erin and a shot that hit the post from Nia.
A long shot from Elizabeth awarded her with a hat-trick giving us a half time score of 4-0.
The second half started with a swap around of some positions, including Millie playing up front.
A great strike from Maisie saw her score her second goal of the season which she was chuffed to bits with. A cross from Elizabeth then forced an own goal from Stotfold.
At this point in the game the manager decided to swap Olivia out of goal and replace her with Nia.
Olivia went up front and worked hard putting pressure on Stotfold. We thought she was going to score the 7th goal of the game but Stotfold kept it out. A few minutes later they couldn’t keep her out again and she got the final goal of the game, ending it 7-0 to Woburn Lionesses.
Well done girls!

The team was Olivia, Millie, Maisie, Neve, Georgia, Nia (Captain), Elizabeth, Erin and Sacha with Olivia being awarded player of the match.
