Shayen Patel had a tremendous influence on those around him with many of his friends and family reaching out to people he liked and supported (like KSI earlier this week – below) to share a message in memory of Shay.

Shay was a huge Chelsea Football Club supporter and with their summer signing of Ben Chilwell, who started his grassroots journey with Woburn & Wavendon FC, it felt fitting that we reached out to him and ask if he could send us a video to pass on to Shay’s family and friend after announcing his Chelsea FC shirt number as 21, the same number Shay wore every week!

This weekend (19th/20th) all of our WWFC teams alongs with teams playing in the Milton Keynes And District Development League and Bedfordshire Youth Saturday League will take the time to applaud before kick off in memory of Shay and Dean Mandabva, a Moretonville JFC who sadly passed away earlier this month after bravely battling cancer.

At such sad times, It’s amazing to see the influence and support the footballing community offers to each other.

A massive thank you to K.S.I for making Shayan’s wish come true and having him appear in one of his video’s as he was a huge fan having watched all his videos and seeing him perform live.

Due to the very sad loss Of Dean Mandabva from Moretonville JFC and Shayen Patel from Woburn and Wavendon FC who both passed away in early September, i would like all clubs to have one minutes applause before each league game on the 19th / 20th September.
It is devastating to hear that two so young have been taken away and all at MKDDL committee's thoughts are with the family and friends of the two young boys.

After a brave battle for the last 2 years, it’s with great sadness that we announce the loss of Shayen Patel, a Woburn & Wavendon FC U14s player and friend to many, and now a WWFC angel who will forever watch over our games.

Shay was a brave ‘lion’ who was passionate about football and supported so many players in the team with his kindness and laughter as he regarded everyone as a friend. We’re extremely proud to be able to say that such kind, caring and devoted boy wore our club badge every week throughout his footballing steps, even taking to the pitch last year to play with his friends whilst going through treatment for a brain tumour (we have a video of him scoring during this game!).

Through his battle, Shay would always look to be positive for the people around him, as well as consider others that he didn’t know but wanted to help as he was looking to set up a charity to help families going through a child’s cancer diagnosis. Shay’s parents will carry this on for him and have set up a memorial fund that will be used for the charity.

Shay’s family will be celebrating his life tomorrow (Saturday 12th September) as they lay him to rest, and from everyone at Woburn & Wavendon FC, we send our love and thoughts to all of his family and friends at this incredibly difficult time.
