A hard fought game against a strong Dunstable side saw the Lionesses come away with a creditable 2-2 draw away from home in their first league outing of the new season. After going behind the Lionesses got back on level terms through an unlucky own goal by the home goalkeeper following a piledriver from Elizabeth, which cannoned back off the post.
Early in the second half the best move the game saw the Lionesses take the lead – a slick three pass move took the ball from inside the half way line, down the right hand side, and across the goalmouth, where Neve was waiting to pounce. A classic goal straight off the training ground. Unfortunately, the lead only lasted a few seconds as the Lionesses were asleep from the re-start and the home side got back on level terms far too easily. Both teams had chances to win the game but a draw was a fair result. A special mention to Olivia in goal for two outstanding saves in the second half to deny the home side.
