The biggest question of the day, was could the demons of playing on the astro, be finally put to bed? After 5 minutes it looked the perfect start as the ball was pulled back for Georgie, however a very late flag as the ball nestled in the net saw that effort chalked off. Woburn then had the weather a storm from Kempston with 2 fantastic saves in quick succession from Charlie. It took a bit of individual skill on 31 minutes to finally give Woburn the lead, as Georgie controlled the ball with her legs and head before calmly scoring. Again we saw strong runs down the left from Madison and down the right from Emily. Charlie again having to save before the interval.

The second half saw Woburn in control but always a doubt that 0-1 was not enough and on 55 minutes another opportunity arose as a handball in the area gave the referee no option but to award a penalty. No mistake from Carrie and 0-2 gave a healthier feel. It was still a tight game with great clearances from Millie and Grace, and Michaela stuck to her task well. On 72 minutes though, Chloe A in uncharted territory crossed and in the chaos that ensued the ball came to Alice who somehow directed into the net. 0-3 Time still though for Kempston to apply pressure and with 6 minutes to go and after just under 6 hours of football, the defence was finally beaten. 1-3

Woburn held tight with the ever more confident Charlie stopping anything the defence missed.

Last word though for a speedy recovery for Jemma, 7 and half years a Woburn player, a stalwart of the defence, will miss a game or 2 after a trip to A+E after the game.

Well done to all the girls.
