A boggy, energy-sapping pitch greeted us but we started brightly and took the lead with a lovely strike from Willow – her smile was priceless. Suddenly we found ourselves struggling to stay in position and pass the ball – this was punished by Aspley Guise. A few players were a bit overawed by the strong tackling and we started to struggle. We steadied a little bit in the final part of the game and a long distance strike from Joseph produced a great celebration. The good thing was we kept working hard until the final whistle.
Things to think about: look to pass or dribble rather than just kicking the ball upfield. Close players down and ‘jockey’ them. Also, it’s important for the team that we play in our positions.
Well done to Oscar who was our ‘Player of the match’. His work rate, tackling and defending were an excellent example to the other players. It’s good to have him back!
