Away Friendly v  Shefford Ladies FC  Sunday 9th Nov. O-5

A lovely sunny day and a friendly that was very welcome to the Woburn Ladies.

The pitch was in fantastic condition and looked enormous , ideal for the Lionesses Blues to play our type of football. Shefford though had other ideas, and were up for a fight! They looked very good  in the warm up which made us feel we definitely had a game on our hands.

The game started with a relaxed mood and with the Lionesses taking the game to Shefford having all of the possession but not having the final shot or killer pass to net the ball. Some good build up play and nice one touch passing was making the Lionesses look very relaxed but with no end product.

It took until the 43rd minute for the ref to award a penalty for handball for Carrie to step up and dispatch a really clinical top corner pen to take us into half time 0-1 up.

The Shefford keeper was having a great game with save after save from all directions with great work from Madison , Lauren, Georgie upfront working hard to break through.

Second half  saw Rosie back for this friendly, scored from a measured cross from Lauren. Then Lauren makes it 0-3 from a Rosie corner on 22 mins into the second half

Jade from defence along with Rachel took control at the back and with Lizzie, Amy & Carrie attaching every midfield ball we became hard to play against. Jade drove forward and decided to do something different and go over the top of the keeper for number 4 . Alice and Rachel ventured forward and were close  when Rachel to Georgie crossed to Lauren who side footed calmly passed the on rushing Shefford keeper to finish it 0-5.

A solid performance from 12 man Lionesses squad did the job, well done to all!

Players of Match – Rachel, Alice, Lauren.
