Report 13/11/16 v Crawley Green at home , nice sunny but not to cold.

Attendance – 36
1 minutes silence for Remembrance Sunday with Woburn Lions & Lionesses raising nearly £500 for the appeal. All credit to all the teams.
This was a great game to watch if you were a neutral ! 2 teams who both wanted to win.
Straight from the off the Crawley team meant business, showing there experience and strength all over the park.
The Blues seem to be ‘caught in the head lights’ some what, with all the play for 17 minutes, when they hit us on the counter and scored! 0-1 , Not used to being in this position the Blues needed to show there character and be patient & use their brains.
Sometimes we try so hard but it will not go in the net! That seemed to be today! All of our front 5 including Georgie, Casey, Madison, Molly and Amy kept knocking at the Crawley door ( or goal )
Some harsh words from the coaches, to try and wake up the Blues, and we started to play football, some good work from Molly and Amy, but it took us until right on 45mins to get back on terms with a low shot into the corner after a winding run by Molly. Great time to score, no time for them to react .
A few home truths during the halftime team talk! The Blues took it on board and looked up for it as they came out for the second period. 2 minutes in Georgie got us in front for the first time , with some great determination and pressure, 2-1 up! But within 2 mins they hit back. Disappointing
Amy gets in on the act to make it 3-2 on 61mins, then Lauren steps up on 63mins for 4-2, but yet again they would not give up and on 65 from another set piece they hit again 4-3.
71 minutes, Time for Lauren to hit the shot of the match right into the top corner ( been practicing at training said coach Ross he was taking the credit !! )
finishes it off. 5-3.
When we play it simple and pass as a team working together it looks so good! Well done for this not vintage or pretty but gritty performance!
Congratulations to Emma on her league debut , as we build for the future and some really important performances from the defence with Britney, Captain Carrie, Lizzie, Rachel and Alice working so hard to keep some good Crawley players at bay.
Great game with some robust challenges the blues have learnt a lot in the last few weeks!
POM Lizzie.
