Result Lionesses 7-0 Wheathampstead FC

Team: LEANNE, AMY, ALICE, BRITNEY , JADE, RACHEL, CARRIE, AMY G, MOLLY, LAUREN, GEORGIE, MADISON , CASEY, LIZZIE

This was going to be a proper Ladies game ( no disrespect to any previous encounter) but after already doing there homework The ‘Wheats’ came to the Guise with a strong game plan! Which for 20 mins or more was working. Credit to the Lionesses for weathering some tough, quick forward play and it was against the run of play that Georgie popped up in the right place to give us a 1-0 lead on 15mins. The good thing was that Woburn were, like last week trying to pass and move with some success . But WFC seemed to be having all the ball for long periods .

Lizzie getting better by the week, hit no.2 after 27mins still the ‘Wheats’ were unlucky not to get more from there very strong midfield, keeping the Lionesses back line very busy and on there toes!

On 37 mins Georgie gets her second with some nice one touch football between back, mid & front lines. Leanne had to make 2 or 3 great one on one saves and blocks to keep us in front! Could have been 3-3 at half time but thankfully it was not!!

Half time 3-0 ( Still nowhere near over!) the second half started just like the 1st with the opposition constantly at us never giving us a minute to think and making us work very hard to keep the ball.

It was not until very late in the second half  that Molly back from injury seemed to come alive and drove into the box only to be taken down! Penalty! Up steps Carrie our penalty taker ,the ball was dispatched  hard and low to the keepers right! 4-0 . Still they pushed us back, still they worked there socks off!  But Molly was on fire, and in the space of 3 mins had scored 3 times with shots 87, 89, & 90 mins from outside the box as there defenders now feeling the pace of not having any subs! backed off.

Game over  7-0 Win. But never ever seemed that much! Fairer result would have been 6-5 as that is what it felt like.

Well done all the team again for there application to the task! The Management are very pleased with the progress of all players but especially the new players who have really stepped up to the plate! Including : these super 6, Amy R, Britney, Jade,  Lizzie, Lauren, Rachel.

POM (and again it could have been 5 or 6 players but) LEANNE for keeping a clean sheet and some great One on one saves.
