Another trip down the A41, this time to face a strong Garston side. The game opened at a frenetic pace which was maintained for half an hour, neither side having the ability to control the middle of the field, but both sides possessing fast wingers. Garston were definitely creating the better chances and Jess had already made 2 saves, the woodwork had intervened with the back 4 busy before on 13 minutes Garson made it 1-0. On 29 minutes with Woburn coming back into the game it was unfortunately 2-0, given the freedom to go down the left hand side Lara just could not hook the ball enough with her left foot for what would have been a good debut goal.
Woburn looked more solid at the start of the second half and on 68 minutes a moment we had been waiting for as Charlotte unleashed a shot which beat the keeper, hopefully the start of many more like it. Within a minute cruelly Garston scored from long range which probably was the moment Woburn realised today was not there’s. More chances were created but Garston kept the pressure on, it probably says something that Grace and Chloe kept Lauren Berryman at bay as she attacked down the Garson right, Lauren scored 39 times from 26 games last season but not today. Garston did grab a 4th, 4-1 was not a reflection of the game but Garston took their chances, 2-1 would have been fairer.
