League game

Hatfield v Lionesses 8/1/17  dry but muddy conditions.

Attendance: 33

Team: LEANNE, BRITNEY, MILLIE, RACHEL, ALICE, CARRIE(c) AMY, LIZZIE, MADISON, CASEY, LAUREN.

1st game after Christmas! Always going to be tough. No game for nearly 4 weeks, so a little rusty. The Lionesses had 2 training sessions early in the year and it seemed to have paid off.

The bare 11 Lionesses made the long trip down the M1, only to find  a massive pitch which looked a bit worse for wear, muddy, sticky and cut up! With no subs! This started to look like an up hill battle, and a very dangerous opponent.

The Blues started confidently knowing they had won the early season home fixture convincingly 7-0, so all the pressure to perform again was on the Lionesses.

They were straight on it from the start all working hard for each other moving the ball with pace and tempo was not easy on such a boggy pitch. It was not long before the Hatfield goal keeper was in the very thick of the action, save after save as it looked like the Lionesses were aiming at the orange shirt!!

Great runs down both wings from Casey & Madison made possible by some great midfield penetrating  passes from Carrie, Amy & Lizzie. Making it easy for Lauren to use her speed to get on the end of so many good through balls.

Not put off by the great goal keeping going on! the Hatfield defence were playing a very dangerous high backline giving our forwards lots opportunity to out pace the defenders.

It took 15 mins for Lauren to open our account and to make it passed the inspired Hatfield keeper. Then 3 goal in 5 mins from Amy,Lauren, Amy. Sealed things it seemed.

Half time 0-4

Goals from Lauren x 4 (standing in as centre forward for Georgie who was on her way back from Australia, welcome back! )  Amy x 3, Casey x 1, Millie x 1, Madison x 1, Carrie x 1

Even though they did not get on the score sheet really good team performances from Lizzie, Alice, Britney, Rachel & Leanne so solid & disciplined keeping another clean sheet.

Full time 0-11   Win but more importantly no injuries & 3 more points!!

Thanks to Hatfield for there hospitality from a team that never gives up and play with great spirit and enthusiasm.

POM. LAUREN.
