Sunday 11th Sept. 2016 1st home game in Beds & Herts Ladies League 3rd Division. Sunny conditions no wind & firm ground.

crowd attendance: 25

Team: LEANNE, BRITNEY, JADE, RACHEL, ALICE , CARRIE, AMY, LIZZIE, CASEY, LAUREN, GEORGIE, MADISON, EMILY, AMY R

M1 closed by an accident with half the Hatfield team caught up in the delay that meant the kick off was delayed until 2.15pm. Hatfield were unfortunate not to have two of there squad players available and finally  started the game with the bear 11.

The Lionesses new look team were keen to impress the home crowd from the start! They did not disappoint as it took only 6 minutes for Amy to carry on from last weeks friendly hat trick and bag another ! Lizzie again from midfield decided to join Amy on the score sheet after 10 mins to make it 2-0. Midfield working well! Georgie working hard upfront as the lone striker made it 3-0 after 24mins. Not to be out done Amy gets her second of the day on 45 mins and Georgie again to make it 5-0 at half time!

Would you believe it!!  The Lionesses playing some very neat football , Carrie controlling everything from the midfield spraying passes left and right for Casey, Lauren & Georgie to make some great runs and crosses.  Rumour has it that Wheathampstead next weeks opponents had sent a couple of people to watch the Lionesses.

The back four were getting to know each other and we’re working well Britney, Jade, Rachel looking very composed ( back from world travels) & not forgetting Alice backed up by Leanne in goal looked at ease with the new set up. Impressive performances from Lauren, Rachel, Jade, Madison were a joy to watch. 14 players got another good run out, including GK Amy R.

Emily and Amy putting the finishing touches with Amy getting her second hat trick in 2 games looks on fire! Final score 7-0 with a convincing result. Long way to go yet!!! The only negative was Molly not able to start this game after getting injured at training on Wednesday, (thanks Pat ) hope she is back very soon.

All the team deserve P.O.M for today’s performance with LAUREN getting the award on the day, every player did a job with discipline and professionalism which was so positive to see so early in the season. Great team performance!

Thanks to all the helpers in getting us ready off & on the pitch for the first home game.

Next up Wheathampstead! Completely Different kettle of fish!!!
