Fresh sunny morning at the Guise! Perfect for a game of football. This was the long awaited game for both teams. The Lionesses had been told to start fast and get at them! This felt like a Final, the final game these two teams would probably play, Garston were desperate to get there first ever victory over the Lionesses!

The Game did start at pace but the Lionesses were in no mood to give anything away! 12minutes went by and Woburn were pressing well and getting rewarded with lots of corners! And with Molly’s pin point accuracy Carrie got on the end of the corner kick and headed home goal number 1 . That helped to relax the team , then again, this time a very quickly taken corner on 28mins Molly slipped the ball to Casey who’s shot made it 2-0!  A minute later Carrie looking like she meant business got a right foot shot away for 3-0, unbelievable first 30minutes. Then they came back at us, as we knew they would. 3-1. They never give anything up!! Again the Sharks were undone by our corner and Captain Millie on 37 minutes put away a scrappy goal, but they all count!! 4-1 . No time to relax but how could we keep this sort of pace and tempo up! So much running down both flanks from Emily and Casey gave them plenty to think about. Garston started to find there passing game and quickly made it 4-2 just before halftime.

Strong words from both Woburn coaches at halftime hoping to re focus and keep our discipline.

Second half Garston started like they were in a Cup final! fighting for every ball?  They scored again after a very unfamiliar lack of communication in the Lionesses back line, 4-3 . Was this the big comeback? They started to get on top! The Lionesses had to be so strong in every tackle! block after block, head after head they chased and pressured and our back five of Millie, Grace, Micky, Chloe, Alice were working there socks off! Woburns Midfield were running out of steam. Just time for captain marvel Millie to pop up for another corner on 81 minutes to seal the deal at 5-3.  Congratulations! Retaining treble still possible!!
