Shefford v Woburn Lionesses

Shefford 1 2 Woburn Lionesses U12s

League Game

Probably the most disciplined performance the team has delivered in its three year history saw Lionesses secure a fantastic away win against a strong Shefford side that won the corresponding fixture 6-0 last season, a testimony to how far the team has progressed in the past 12 months. It was anything but easy and the Lionesses had to be organised to withstand strong late pressure from the home side.

In truth the Lionesses dominated for long periods without putting away their numerous chances. The first goal came before the break and it will live long in the memory of those who witnessed it – Nia brilliantly heading a great cross past the home goalkeeper.

However, just like the week before the team gave away the lead too easily and too quickly – straight from the kick off after half time. But, the Lionesses were not to be denied a famous away win and team captain Nia rifled home a drive half way through the second period. The team dug deep and held on for a valuable three points on the road.
