U11 WWFC Lionesses Clarets x x U11 WWFC Lionesses Blues
1st October 2016, 10:30AM
Wavendon Gate School
League match

Today was the toughest physical challenge we have faced as a team so far and surprisingly against our own WWFC Blues! However, the girls rose above the distractions to deliver a well-earned victory.

Excellent link up plays between Izzy and Olivia allowed Olivia to score the winner in the first half. The girls continued to battle for the rest of the match as they tried to add to the tally however, 1 goal is enough sometimes and today it represented a big win for our girls. Charlotte again was looking very comfortable in midfield linking up with defence & attack alike.

Our front girls Kitty & Jasmine had to put up with some very close attention from their defence but both managing to get shots off on target only to be thwarted by some excellent goalkeeping.

The Rubies had an excellent performance in defence, & as the game progressed, gained in confidence & started to act more as additional midfielders, creating all sorts of problems for the opposition. Freya as a consequence had very little to do but kept concentration & on one occasion, came flying off her line to make a vital clearance keeping us in the game. Girl of the match and captain for the game was Tayla who put in an impressive defensive performance throughout the entire match. Our defensive ranks were further strengthened as Molly returned from injury and also put in fantastic work in the second half – well done!

The effort and persistence from all the girls was clearly evident today and I think they all deserve a big well done! Gritty opposition and narrow margins is something we need to get used to but, every single Lioness can hold their heads up high based on their contribution and also with the knowledge that that is 2 wins out of 2!
