Whirlwinds v Olney Town Blue

WWFC U10 Whirlwinds 0 0 Olney Town Blue

A game of two halves if ever there was one. The Whirlwinds encountered our first “sticky” pitch of the season and failed top adapt accordingly. This led to a first half that saw a rampant Olney completely on top.

When the going gets tough you learn a lot about yourself and your team mates. It would have been all too easy to have capitulated and feel sorry for ourselves. Instead The Whirlwinds rallied and showed a team spirit that they should be really proud of. We dominated the second half and quickly pulled some goals back. It was a cruel own goal that interrupted the momentum but we kept on pushing until the end.

At full time it felt like a victory. Whilst the score line was comprehensive the way the team pulled together gives reason to believe that ironically, this could be a game we look back on as a defining moment in our season and the day the players became a team.
