Woburn Lionesses v Stotfold

Woburn Lionesses 4 0 Stotfold
26 September
Wavendon Gate

The Lionesses extended their unbeaten run this season to five games with a convincing win against Stotfold.  The home team dominated the match and should have been well ahead by half-time, but the teams were level at the break, in part due to some wayward finishing, but also due to an excellent performance from the visitors’ centre back. Sacha hitting the post from distance was as close as the Lionesses came to scoring in the opening half hour, although the team’s corner routines caused chaos in the Stotfold defence.

The Lionesses finally turned their possession into goals in the second half and Elizabeth got her season’s tally off the mark with a well taken hat-trick. The fourth was scored by Erin who marked her home league debut with a well taken finish, calmly slotting the ball home from inside the penalty area – within a minute of coming onto the pitch. Well done Erin! The Lionesses saw the game out comfortably and Olivia in goal and Millie and Georgia in defence were rarely troubled. The visitors played some good passing football without creating many clear cut chances and the game ended with the Lionesses pressing forward looking to add further goals.

Lionesses’ Team: Olivia, Georgia, Millie, Nia (Captain), Neve, Elizabeth, Ophelia, Sophie, Erin, Sacha, Maisie.
