A losing start for Woburn Tornadoes
The football season was finally here, all of our lads were excited for the season ahead. We were handed a difficult away game for the season curtain opener.
After a delay to our kick off due to the pitch not being ready in time, the game kicked off. The first half was not a brilliant half of football, the ball spent a lot of time in the air and the crisp passing we are used to playing just didn’t materialise. Both teams were testing each other out, almost nervous to make a mistake. However, a mistake was made late in the first half and a crunching tackle resulted in a penalty awarded to CMK. The penalty resulted in a magnificent save from Mark (our cat in the sticks) but the resulting rebound managed to find itself in the back of the net despite a heroic attempt of a clearance from our defence.
Half time CMK 1 -0 WWFC Tornadoes
The second half we were determined to be much better, play the football we know we can play and we were much improved, the passing was crisper, the movement more fluid and we looked like we were going to equalise at every attack, we had a goal disallowed for offside, we hit the post and created various chances, however it just wasn’t meant to be and we couldn’t capitalise on the chances created. Credit to CMK they were dogged, very stong defensively and at times played some nice football. We were gutted we couldn’t get the ball over the line and make it a fairer result in our eyes.

We push on and welcome Halse to our new home at Heath & Reach, looking to kick start our season with a better result.
