Lionesses goals from: Own goals x 2, Millie x 1

A dull evening saw a familiar Woburn team, with Casey returning after a season with MK Dons and one welcome new addition as Amy made her debut, having had the rare honour of scoring against the Lionesses last season. Woburn started slightly disjointed as this really was the first opportunity to play football, having concentrated on fitness over the summer. Action was end to end, the Lionesses just unable to get a clean shot off.

Eventually it was Northampton who broke down the left after 28 minutes and shot inside the post evading Leanne for the lead.

HT 1-0

Carrie and Millie had chances to equalise before on 58 minutes Northampton made it 2-0. This rallied Lionesses and on 74 minutes Carrie took a free kick and the ball was in the net off a Northampton player. 2-1. A minute later Molly’s corner found Millie to make it 2-2. Back came Northampton to re-take the lead on 80 minutes. 3-2. The darkness ever descending on 82 minutes a carbon copy of goal 1, although this time Jacqui stood on the side-line, claimed the goal, as no one could actually see. The drama was not over as on 85 minutes Northampton were handed a penalty which was duly missed and somehow near enough 90 minutes of football was played.

FT 3-3

Well fought back!
